Carnival Day Successes

Congratulations to Mike and Corinna  whose joint guess was the closest to the weight of the cake at 1330 grams.  The actual weight was 1340 grams so very well guessed.  Must be cake bakers to have been so close. Congratulations also to Tara who guessed there were 1300 jelly beans in the jar.  The actual number was 1275 so well done Tara you have won yourself a White Stuff voucher for £10. It was a great day despite the iffy weather and well done to Farnham Lions and Hedgehogs for their roaring success!

These were great kebabs!

Summer is coming so we thought we should ready ourselves and club members for the upcoming BBQ season. Last week, fruit kebabs were on the menu for our FAB and Hang Out Clubs. Not only were they great fun to make, they were delicious too. We can’t be sure but think that probably  twice the amount of fruit was consumed than finally ended up on the plate, so as with all good chefs a lot of tasting must have taken place. The chocolate dip, though entirely optional, for some reason proved very popular and was applied under the strict watchful eye of Simon!

Come to our Grand Opening

We have great pleasure in inviting you all to the Grand Opening of the newly refurbished Milky Way Hall at 40 Degreez on Friday October 28th at 10-11.30am. A potted history of the refurbishment project follows: Phase One – Redesign and extend kitchen; replace old units with new to increase storage space; install new appliances and fit new work surfaces. Phase Two – Replaced badly fitting old single glazed window units in the hall with tinted double glazed aluminium surrounded units. Phase Three – Install a suspended ceiling with insulation above; clad walls with heat retaining and noise reduction cladding; install new LED lighting system; clad walls of two upstairs rooms adjoining the hall; fit new downward flowing fan and new smoke detectors. It has taken four years to raise sufficient funding for all this work.  The project objective was to reduce energy costs; increase rental use and reduce noise to the first floor rooms from the hall.  Already we know that the increased kitchen space has allowed greater participation by the young people in learning essential life skills such as healthy eating, cooking and nutritional values. The snuggly fitting new windows have brought 100% positive feedback from users and […]
