Fab

The Fab Club runs every Wednesday afternoon from 3.30-5pm.  It is a club run by our youth worker and volunteers from local schools and organisations for young people aged 11-18 who have special needs

The main objective of this club is to give young people with special needs the chance to socialise and meet other young people in a safe environment outside of school.  Predominantly club members attend either The Abbey or The Ridgeway Schools but it's open for anyone with special needs to join.

Many of our volunteers are working towards one or another form of accreditation including Duke of Edinburgh and Young Leaders Awards.  "It's very rewarding and great fun," said one 17 year old volunteer.  "No two weeks are the same and the young people really enjoy coming."

Although the club doesn't run during the holiday periods, there are trips and workshops organised for the young people to attend.  "We all come up with ideas on where to go and what to do and then vote on them and the idea with the most votes wins," one young member explains.

Because 40 Degreez Centre for Young People is a registered charity and largely dependant on grants and donations to survive, holiday activities cannot be guaranteed.  But to date enough funding was secured to take the members out in the half term holidays. They went to Legoland and on a boat trip down the River Wey and had so much fun.  There is money to arrange further activities for the August summer holidays as well.  Thank you to all our volunteers and a huge thanks to all our financial supporters.

Regular club activities include playing table tennis, pool and table football; using the computers; playing outside games in good weather including football, skipping, hoola hoops and basketball; cooking; playing the Wii games and using the electronic dance mats.
